CM to inaugurate rural road and bridge projects worth Rs 2080 crore

Ranchi, Oct. 24: Chief Minister Raghubar Das is going to inaugurate rural road and bridge construction projects worth Rs 2080 crore. Rural roads having a total length of 1700 km and 35 bridges will be inaugurated.

Foundation stones will be laid for the 2100 km long rural roads and 55 bridges. The inauguration of the projects by the CM will take place in Giridih in the presence of rural development minister Neelkanth Singh Munda.

Programmes will be organized in all districts in the presence of local MPs, MLAs and District Council chairman on this occasion.

In the next three years, 16,100 km long village roads will be constructed. The CM said that 3000 km roads will be constructed in this financial year, 6500 km in 2017-18 and 6600 km in 2018-19.

The state government has approved projects to build 21,865 km roads and 378 bridges. Out of this, 13,437 km roads have been constructed at an expense of Rs 4265 crore.

It should be noted that rural road construction was started by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee with the view to connect rural areas with metalled roads and district headquarters.
