Saraikela, Feb 28: The mood at the Nagarpalika Odiya Middle School ranged from somber to boisterous as students of class VIII belonging to the batch of 1985 got together after 35 years to relive old times. But it all commenced with the students honouring their teachers Gauri Shankar Acharya, Prabodh Kumar Hota, Manindra Pattanaik, Girish Chandra Dheer Samant and Subodh Kumar Pani. The alumni members of 1985 also paid homage to their teachers Pukla Chandra Mishra, Nirmal Chandra Kamila and Ram Prasad Mishra who had passed away. The 1985 class VIII batch mates who made time to attend the reunion had arrived from different states to feel the warmth of togetherness of years that had rolled by. They missed their other batch mates Prabhat Pati, Ranjit Mahanty, Rameshwar Kamila, Sudam Kamila, Ram Prasad Bhol, Jogesh Kavi and Naba Kumar Sathpathy who had passed away by praying for the peace of their souls.

Later, after praying at the Shamshan Kali Mandir, the Class of 1985 was lost in recollections of old times replete with deeds of mischief and pranks and the punishments meted out to them by the teachers. Boisterous laughter permeated the place. The students decided to hold a reunion annually and take up programmes on national development.
