Laborer dies while digging earth in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Feb 28: A laborer engaged in digging a plot of land at Pradhan Tola in Bagbera Baroda Ghat died when accumulated fly ash removed during digging suddenly caved in on Sunday. Coworkers somehow pulled him out of the debris and rushed him to the Sadar Hospital where doctors after checkup pronounced the worker dead. The deceased laborer was 28 years old.

According to information available, the area on which work was in progress was government land and fly ash had been used to level the ground. Plotting was being carried out for sale purpose. On Sunday, the fly ash was being removed and earth was being dug for construction of houses. About 10 feet of fly ash had been removed. At the time of the accident, the fly ash pile suddenly caved in leading to the laborer’s death. However, the Bagbera police has stated that they were trying to find out if the plot of land came under government property. The body of the deceased was sent for autopsy.
