Industry pledges to take proactive steps towards achieving Zero-Accident at workplace

Jamshedpur, Sept: CII Jharkhand in association with Factory Inspectorate, Government of Jharkhand organised its maiden edition of Industrial Safety Symposium today in Jamshedpur. The objective of the CII Jharkhand Industrial Safety Symposium 2019 was to inspire the stakeholders towards building an even stronger culture of safety in their organisations. This symposium acted as a forum wherein the participants got the opportunity to interact with the safety professionals, thought leaders to learn the best practices.

Addressing the gathering, Neeraj Kant, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council and Managing Director, ISWP Ltd said, “Safety is something which can never be over emphasised. Impact of being unsafe is very heavy on the society. Best safety cultures are led by business leaders who integrate safety into the business”.
“For achieving Vision Zero or a Zero-accident workplace, we would need more involvement and commitment of the MSMEs. I am happy that the CII Jharkhand Safety Panel has launched Project SARTHI to handhold MSMEs on better safety management practices and transform them into a better and safer workplace”, stated Sanjay Sabherwal, Vice Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Metaldyne Industries Ltd at the CII Jharkhand Industrial Safety Symposium 2019 in Jamshedpur.
“The commitment from the leadership towards safety is extremely critical to inculcate a true safety culture within the organisation”, affirmed Vilas Gaikwad, Chief – Safety, Tata Steel Long Products Ltd while addressing the symposium.
Bipin B Sharan, Convenor, CII Jharkhand Safety Panel & Head-Safety, Tata Motors Ltd avowed “This maiden edition of CII Jharkhand Industrial Safety Symposium will prove to be a good learning session with significant takeaways and would go along way in encouraging industries to take proactive approaches for a safe workplace”.
Rajender Sachdev, Vice Chairman, CII Jamshedpur Zonal Council & Managing Director, Industrial Forge & Engineering Ltd opined that achieving Vision Zero in Industrial Safety will require new mindset, new beliefs, new approaches and a different kind of leadership.
Amitava Bakshi, Chairman, CII Jamshedpur Zonal Council & Chief Procurement Officer, Tata Steel Ltd was also present during the symposium.

The symposium deliberated on important topics of discussion including Contractor & Health Safety and Disaster Management, Role of Leadership for Sustainable Safety Performance, Legal & Statutory Requirements and Ease of Doing Business. Over 100 delegates participated in this important forum.
