Jamshedpur: Central Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC), president Sardar Bhagwan Singh, expressed strong condemnation over the derogatory term ‘Khalistani’ being used against Sikh IPS officer Jaspreet Singh in West Bengal. During his stay in Punjab, Singh issued a statement on Wednesday, rebuking BJP leaders and demanding an apology from the party.
Singh emphasized that labeling Jaspreet Singh, a Sikh IPS officer, as a Khalistani is not only an insult to the Sikh community but also to the entire bureaucracy of the country. The CGPC strongly condemned this incident, highlighting the deep-rooted issues of discrimination based on color, religion, and caste. Singh asserted that the Sikh community has always been ready to make sacrifices for the nation, evident in the fearlessness of Sikh soldiers guarding the borders.
He criticized BJP leaders for their apparent disdain, stating that such insults reveal the extent of their animosity towards people’s color, religion, and caste. He called upon the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to issue a public apology to the nation for labeling the Dastar-wearing IPS officer as a Khalistani. Singh further urged the party to take decisive action against the responsible BJP leader and MLA, Shubhendu Adhikari, by removing him from the party.
In unequivocal terms, Bhagwan Singh declared that India can no longer tolerate insults based on caste, religion, or language, emphasizing that it is time for a collective stand against such derogatory actions.
The CGPC chief added that all Gurudwara committees in the Kolhan region strongly condemn the behavior of BJP leaders in this matter. He demanded a public apology from BJP leaders, urging them to acknowledge the gravity of the incident and take responsibility for their actions. The CGPC asserted that such incidents contribute to the erosion of the country’s values of inclusivity and diversity, calling for a united front against discrimination on any basis.
