Jamshedpur: A serious case of assault and molestation has been registered at Sonari police station, after a woman from the Sonari area lodged a written complaint against three accused individuals.
Based on the complaint, police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to the FIR, the accused have been identified as Ashish Sharma, Sahil Sharma, and Beenu Sharma — residents of Jhabri Basti in Sonari.
The victim alleged that between November 20 and 23, the trio repeatedly harassed her, forcibly entered her house, assaulted her, and misbehaved with her.
She stated that the torture continued for four consecutive days, leaving her with no choice but to approach the police.
Police sources said the complaint also mentions that the accused frequently gathered outside the woman’s house, attempting to intimidate her.
Matters escalated on November 23 when all three allegedly stormed into her residence and physically attacked her.
Hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed to the spot, prompting the accused to flee.
When contacted, Sonari Police officials acknowledged that both sides have had an ongoing dispute, which has intensified in recent times.
They said the current complaint is a result of the same conflict.
Sonari police station in-charge confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and efforts are underway to trace the accused.
Statements from both parties are being recorded, and officials assured that the investigation will be carried out impartially.
Further action will follow based on the findings of the probe.
