Carmel Junior, KPS Kadma crowned winners at Interschool Team Chess

Jamshedpur, April 12: Team from Carmel Junior College were crowned the winners in the Senior category of Interschool Team Chess Tournament (City Rounds) with 6.5 points, team from JH Tarapore School finished a close second with 5.5 points while team from Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) were declared the 2nd runner up with 4.5 points at the event hosted by Carmel School on 11 and 12 April.

In the junior category team from Kerala Public School, Kadma took the pole position with 6 points, Carmel Junior College also scored 6 points to bag second position while team from Rajendra Vidyalaya were the 2nd runner up with 5 points.

The top six teams from each of the category of participating ten teams will play the main event i.e. Jharkhand round of the Team Chess Tournament schedule to be held from 18th to 20th April at Carmel Junior College. Other four teams will be coming from different parts of the state making it 10.

Later, the Closing ceremony of Carmel Interschool Team Chess Tournament (City Round) took place on Sunday, April 12. The chief guest of the closing ceremony was Sister Mridula A.C., Principal, Sacred Heart Convent School, special guest Pritam Singh – Secretary, All Jharkhand Chess Association, Sister M. Sylvie A.C. Principal and Sister Steffi A.C. Vice Principal of Carmel Junior College and others were present.

Top six teams from Senior category are Carmel junior college, JH Tarapore, MNPS, DBMS English School, St. Mary�s English and KPS Mango. In Junior category KPS Kadma, Carmel, Rajendra Vidyalaya, Sacred Heart Convent, Loyola and MNPS.
