Career Awareness Programme Held at Jamshedpur Women’s University

Entrepreneurship Key to Boost India’s Per Capita Income: Prabal Sen

Jamshedpur, Dec 16: The Department of Commerce, Jamshedpur Women’s University, organised a career awareness programme at its Bistupur campus on Monday to guide students on career opportunities in company secretaryship and entrepreneurship. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Anjila Gupta.

The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a welcome address by Dean of Commerce Dr. Deepa Sharan, who also introduced the keynote speakers. Company Secretary of the Jamshedpur Chapter, CS Surojit Bhumij, addressed the students in the first session and shared detailed information about career prospects in company secretaryship. He explained the role and responsibilities of a Company Secretary and highlighted that the profession offers wide opportunities with no age limit for entry. He encouraged students to consider this field as a promising and stable career option.

In the second session, former XLRI Professor Dr. Prabal Sen spoke on entrepreneurship and its importance in a developing country like India. He noted that while India’s GDP has grown significantly, per capita income remains low, underlining the need for entrepreneurship, especially among women. He discussed challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and highlighted various government schemes available to support them. Dr. Chhaganlal Agarwal also shared insights related to the topic.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Gloria Purti and Jayanti Pradhan. Faculty members Bhavna Kumari and Anshu Verma, along with students of the Commerce Department, were present and actively participated in the programme.
