Ranchi: The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has stirred controversy by canceling the applications of 85,023 candidates for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam. The commission has issued a comprehensive 297-page notification outlining the reasons for the rejection of these applications, citing various errors and discrepancies.
Approximately 6.5 lakh candidates had initially applied for the JSSC CGL examination. The commission’s notification listed several reasons for the cancellation of applications, including failure to choose a regional language, alterations in the reservation category and disability columns without corresponding fee payment, and failure to complete the process beyond registration.
In response to the cancellations, the JSSC has rescheduled the CGL exam for January 21 and January 28, 2024. However, this change in the exam date has triggered protests among students, leading to demonstrations in front of the JSSC office. The protests took a disturbing turn when one student attempted suicide as a form of protest against the altered exam schedule.
