Two-day strike announced in BSL-SAIL on 29-30 January

Bokaro: Central trade unions have declared a two-day strike in BSL-SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited) against the SAIL management. The strike is scheduled to take place on January 29-30, and it will extend to all steel plants under SAIL. The unions plan to officially notify the SAIL management about the strike on January 12. The decision for this agitation was announced during a virtual meeting of trade unions held on Friday, with INTUC President Dr. G. Sanjeeva Reddy leading the call for the strike.

Workers, both permanent and temporary, employed by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), have been engaged in protests for several months, demanding the settlement of various outstanding payments, including bonuses and arrears. Despite continuous agitation, employees and unions claim that the SAIL management has not taken positive steps to address their demands.

BN Choubey, the General Secretary of the Bokaro Steel Plant Unit of INTUC, stated that the decision for the strike was collectively made during a meeting organized by all central trade unions. The nationwide strike against the SAIL management is seen as a crucial step for the welfare of workers, reflecting the ongoing struggles and demands within the industry.
