Jamshedpur, June 2: The trial of the murder case involving BJYM District General Secretary Suraj Kumar, who was fatally stabbed near Harharguttu old market on December 7, 2021, took a significant turn as the victim’s father, Vijay Kumar, identified the accused in the Jamshedpur court on Friday.

The case is being heard in the court of Principal District and Sessions Judge Anil Kumar Mishra, with the murder suspects, Sonu Singh and Kamal, appearing virtually from Ghaghidih Jail. Vijay Kumar positively identified both accused individuals during the court proceedings.

Recounting the incident to the court, Vijay Kumar stated that the attack occurred at around 10 p.m. on December 7. Following the incident, he rushed Suraj to TMH (Tata Main Hospital), during which Suraj mentioned the names of the assailants. Unfortunately, Suraj succumbed to his injuries after three days of treatment. Advocate Prabhat Shankar Tiwari represented Vijay Kumar in court and presented his argument. Following the incident, Sonu had surrendered to the police. In his statement to the authorities, Sonu revealed that a land dispute had caused a rift between him and Suraj. As Suraj had gained significant responsibilities within the political party, conflicts often arose between the two individuals. Sonu claimed that Suraj obstructed his endeavors and became a constant obstacle. In light of these circumstances, they conspired to eliminate him. The attack took place on December 7, 2021, around 10 p.m., near Harharguttu Purana Bazar.
