Jamshedpur: District BJP leaders welcomed the Goods and Services Tax on the very first day of its coming into effect.
Jamshedpur Mahanagar president Dinesh Kumar said the launch of GST would pave way for economic freedom in India. He said the GST was not only a simplification of the taxation system but was also a symbol of the much-awaited economic freedom.
State BJP spokesperson Rajesh Kumar Shukla said the GST Bill was a precursor of important economic reformation in the country which would enhance the level of transparency in matters of governance. He said the Prime Minister had brought much relief to the people, especially the business community, was implementing �one nation, one tax� system in the country. He said the government had done a great service to the people by abolishing 17 different types of taxes and simplifying the whole process of taxation.
Former district BJP president Chandra Shekhar Mishra said the taxation system in the country was much complicated earlier. He said the GST had replaced 17 different types of taxes on goods and services. This would bring about uniformity in the prices of goods and services, with some exceptions, across the country, he said.
District BJP spokesperson Ankit Anand said the GST implementation was an important tax reformation initiative taken by the Central government. He said the new taxation system would contribute greatly towards boosting the economy, especially foreign direct investments.
