India Rose to 4th Largest Economy Under Modi’s Leadership
Jamshedpur, June 12: Jharkhand BJP President and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi on Thursday hailed the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led Central Government over the past 11 years, crediting it for transforming India into the fourth largest economy in the world. Addressing a press conference at Chamber Bhawan in Bistupur, Marandi said, “Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has moved from the 11th to the 4th largest economy. This journey has been marked by reforms in governance, infrastructure, national security, and social welfare.”
Marandi outlined key achievements, including the direct transfer of ₹34 lakh crore to beneficiaries, effectively curbing corruption. He highlighted the success of flagship schemes such as Swachh Bharat and Jal Jeevan Mission, which led to the construction of over 11.7 crore toilets and piped water supply to 11.8 crore rural households.
Speaking on women empowerment, he noted that 30 crore Mudra loans were disbursed to women, and their participation in higher education increased by 28%. He also referred to the historic move to reserve 33% seats for women in Parliament as a significant milestone.
On the front of national security, Marandi stated, “Since 2014, the practice of merely sending dossiers has ended. India responded firmly to terror attacks in Uri, Pulwama, and Pahalgam with surgical and air strikes. Left-wing extremism has declined by 70%.”
Criticizing the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government, Marandi raised concerns over the crumbling state healthcare system, citing severe shortages of oxygen, doctors, and equipment in hospitals across Hazaribagh, Godda, and Jamshedpur. He accused the state of failing to meet basic public health needs.
He also expressed concern over illegal infiltration, alleging that opposition-ruled states are “sheltering infiltrators” instead of cooperating with central authorities.
Responding to CM Hemant Soren’s remark comparing farmers to cricketer M.S. Dhoni, Marandi called it “childish,” adding, “Dhoni farms with his own resources. The government must support farmers with technology, irrigation, and quality seeds.”
Senior BJP leaders including Shivpujan Pathak, Nandji Prasad, Amarpreet Singh Kale, and others were present at the press conference.
