Jamshedpur: Local residents raised civic and law-and-order issues during a public grievance meeting organized at the Tarun Sangh premises in Kadma. Mukul Mishra, the public utility representative of Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy, chaired the meeting, where residents voiced intense anger over deteriorating local conditions.
The attendees expressed deep anger over the rampant operation of illegal matka (gambling), betting, and liquor businesses across the Kadma police station area. Residents alleged that despite repeated complaints, the Kadma station house officer (SHO) has failed to take any steps to curb these illegal activities. Furthermore, locals accused the police station’s drivers and certain officers of routinely harassing residents under various pretexts.
The meeting also highlighted severe lapses by the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) regarding door-to-door garbage collection in Bhatia Basti and adjoining areas. Residents complained that waste collection vehicles frequently skip neighbourhoods for three consecutive days, leaving the areas reeling under a foul stench.
Residents informed Mukul Mishra that fresh encroachments are emerging on the land in front of Shastri Nagar Block Numbers 2 and 3, which the administration and Jusco had previously cleared. They noted that authorities have placed a large garbage bin on the main road, which spreads filth and causes hours-long traffic jams on the busy stretch. Attendees also submitted complaints regarding dysfunctional high-mast lights, damaged roads, and choked drains.
After listening to the grievances, Mukul Mishra assured the gathering that he would present these issues directly to MLA Saryu Roy and make every effort to ensure immediate solutions.
