Ranchi, March 6: Jharkhand chief minister’s secretariat has issued a statement on Monday confirming that all the migrant workers are safely engaged in their works in different factories and construction sites in Coimbatore and Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu.
It has also refuted news of torture and assault of Jharkhand migrant workers in Tamil Nadu as baseless.
“All migrant workers safely engaged in their work in various factories and construction sites in Coimbatore and Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu. Similarly, the migrant laborers of Dumka and Ranchi are also working in their work without any hassles. They are not facing any kind of problem nor are being beaten up or humiliated for speaking Hindi,” the statement said.
The statement informed that migrant workers shared their feelings after detailed talks with the Jharkhand labor department delegation that went to Tamil Nadu on the instructions of the Chief Minister in places like Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Chengulpet, Kancheepuram etc.
The delegation ensured that all the workers are safe and all are getting their wages on time. Every possible help is being provided by the Tamil Nadu government to the migrant workers of Jharkhand and other states.
“Migrant workers in Tamil Nadu are mostly from Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar, Dumka, West Singhbhum, Bokaro and Ranchi districts. During the meeting with the workers, the delegation talked about the spread through social media that Hindi speaking people are being beaten up by the local residents, and they are being threatened to go back to their home state, failing which they will be killed. During investigation these allegations were found to be baseless,” the statement adds.

“The kind of news that has come through social media and other means of information was verified by visiting Chennai, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore districts. It was found baseless. Information and Public Relations Department urges all newspapers and portals. They should take full care in publishing or showing the news. Also include official statements being issued on the matter in order to prevent the spread of misinformation,” the statement concludes.
