All India Radio Jamshedpur to broadcast Mahishasura Mardini on Mahalaya

Jamshedpur, Sept 19: All India Radio (AIR) Jamshedpur will broadcast the iconic musical programme Mahishasura Mardini on the occasion of Mahalaya this Sunday. The programme will be aired on the primary channel, FM 102.4, at 4:27 am.

The timeless broadcast, rendered by Birendra Krishna Bhadra, is considered an integral part of the Mahalaya tradition, marking the formal beginning of Durga Puja celebrations. For decades, the recital has been associated with invoking Goddess Durga and has become a deeply cherished cultural and spiritual experience for devotees.

Across Jamshedpur, listeners look forward to the annual broadcast, which brings with it the festive spirit of Puja. “The moment the sound of Mahishasura Mardini fills the air, it feels like Durga Puja has truly arrived,” said a devotee.

AIR officials said arrangements have been made to ensure uninterrupted transmission for devotees awaiting the dawn broadcast.
