Administration should pay primary attention to childrens safety: Ankit Anand

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, July 19: BJP leader and district spokesman, social worker and founder of Siksha Satyagrah, Ankit Anand was deeply consternated with the autorickshaw mishap that led to the injury of school students near Rabindra Bhawan yesterday. Stating that such nature of accidents had become almost everyday events, he blamed the school auto and van operators for such mishaps due to overloading for earning some quick extra bucks. He urged the district administration to give primary attention to the safety of children including those who are crammed into autos and vans during to and fro school journeys.

In an email letter to Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla and also addressed to Regional Deputy Director of Education (RDDE), DSE, DEO and district SSP he urged that overloading of autorickshaws and vans should be effectively checked and the operators punished. He accused private school managements of overlooking the legal observations of the Supreme Court and the Jharkhand Education Tribunal to operate institutional bus services.  Due to the lack of such facilities, Ankit observed in his letter, parents were forced to engage auto and vans for carrying their children to school. He attributed the prime cause of accidents to overloading.

The BJP district spokesman urged the administration to take special cognizance on this delicate issue and ensure that the Supreme Courts directive is enforced in all categories of private schools. As for astronomical fares charged at will by operators Ankit suggested that fares should be fixed by the administration. He also demanded strict action against auto and van drivers who deliberately cast aside all traffic norms to put life and limbs of children to the sword.
