18 trains delayed in a day, Ispat Express over 12 hours late at Tatanagar

Jamshedpur: The persistent issue of train delays at Tatanagar Railway Station continues to worsen, triggering growing public anger and frustration among passengers. Despite repeated pressure from local public representatives, including the MP and MLA, there has been no visible improvement in the situation.

The scale of the problem was evident on Thursday when nearly 18 trains passing through Tatanagar arrived late. The situation remained unchanged on Friday, prompting passengers to take to social media platforms to vent their anger and demand accountability.

Severe delays disrupt travel plans

The extent of delays has left passengers stranded and exhausted, particularly in the ongoing summer heat. In a glaring example of mismanagement, the Titlagarh Ispat Express arrived at the station more than 12 hours behind schedule, causing immense inconvenience to travellers.

Several other major trains also failed to run on time. The Steel Express was delayed by 1 hour and 55 minutes, while the Itwari Express ran nearly 7 hours late. The Santragachi Weekly Superfast lagged by 10 hours, and the Jabalpur Humsafar Express was delayed by over 6 hours. Similarly, the Howrah Duronto Express and the Kalinga Utkal Express were delayed by more than five and four hours respectively. Other prominent trains like the Azad Hind Express, Gyaneshwari Express, and Mumbai Mail also failed to maintain their schedules.

Jan Shatabdi cancellation adds to woes

Further compounding passenger troubles, the Jan Shatabdi Express was cancelled at Tatanagar on Thursday. The train, which operates between Howrah and Barbil, was abruptly terminated, forcing passengers to disembark mid-journey. Many were left scrambling for alternative transport options such as buses to reach their destination.

Mounting pressure on railway authorities

Passengers have expressed deep frustration over the lack of communication and inadequate arrangements during such disruptions. Many complained of being left unattended on platforms or inside trains for hours without proper updates.

With protests intensifying and public dissatisfaction growing, pressure is mounting on railway authorities to address operational inefficiencies and restore reliability. Unless swift action is taken, the ongoing crisis at Tatanagar risks escalating into a full-blown public agitation.
