Jamshedpur, June 23: Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC) Executive Officer (EO) Deepak Sahay chaired a meeting concerning updated water connections provided to residents under the organization’s command area. In the course of the review meeting, the MMC EC was informed of several illegal water connections had been availed of in many localities under the MMC. Expressing his displeasure on the figure of such illegal water connections, he said that in accordance with the Municipal Act, a fine of Rs 10,000 would be levied on residents availing of water supply facilities through such illegal connections. The MMC EO, Dipak Sahay while taking note of the number of applications for water connection, directed departmental officials present at the meeting to ensure quick execution of the applicants’ demand for such connections. MMC City Manager Rahul Kumar was made the Nodal Officer to double-check on water connectivity to the applicants at the earliest and within the time frame given by the government. All water connections, especially illegal ones would be checked by City Manager-cum-Nodal Officer Rahul Kumar and those found availing of illegal water connections would be penalized in accordance with Municipal Act norms with penalty of Rs 10 thousand each.
As per information, 300 applications for water connection were received during the current fiscal. City Managers Jitendra Kumar and Rahul Kumar, Junior Engineer Subodh Kumar, Assistant Engineer Santosh Kumar and other MMC officials participated in the review meeting.
