Ace Power lifter Parvinder Singh hopes to win gold

Jamshedpur, Jan. 5: Ace power lifter Parvinder Singh of Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra) is ready to shine at the Subrata Classic National and International Power lifting Bench press and Deadlift championship-2016.

International Gold Medalist Champion, Singh is back in Jamshedpur and will be vying for gold medal in 83 kg (Senior) category at The Milanee, the venue for the International championship on Wednesday, January 6.

Organised by Indian Power Lifting Federation the championship is being held from 4 to 9 January, 2016 in Jamshedpur.

�I want nothing less than a gold medal in this International Championship as I�m in the right posture and will be competing with the participants of Iran and Afghanistan�, said Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee.

Talking to The Avenue Mail on the eve of his match (Tuesday), Singh said, �I have been in the field since the last 12 years and have won several national and international medals but I want to add another feather in my cap by clinching gold in this championship�.

�I have practiced a lot before leaving for the International and hope destiny favors me and I win the gold medal� , said Singh.

�I have been born and brought up in Jalandhar (Punjab) and was always interested in body building and love for the game took me to Mumbai, said, Bhusan Awardee, adding, �I took coaching at Sri Ganesh Gymnasium in Navi Mumbai in 2002 for six months and later visited several other gyms in and around Mumbai hoping to become a professional power lifter�.

Singh further said, power lifting is becoming popular the world over and hope it would be included in the Olympics games of 2020. It is the toughest game and Arnold Schwarzenegger, former professional bodybuilder and actor, model in his book has termed power lifting as the toughest game.

Parvinder Singh has also won the All-India Strongman title at the Senior National Power Lifting Championship held in Karnataka.
