Jamshedpur: Members of Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh and residents of Fagu Baba Shamshan Ghat locality in Sonari have demanded establishment of a school at the site of proposed crematorium.
They said the said land should not be used to build crematorium. Rather the plot should be used to build a school building, they said.
The residents said the proposal was pending with the state government and hence the plot should not be allowed to be used for any other purpose.
Dr Umesh Kumar, president of Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh, took out a procession with local residents through Sakchi roundabout on Friday to protest the proposal for building a crematorium in the area.
The procession culminated at the office of the deputy commissioner. A memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Hemant Soren was handed over to the DC.
