Jamshedpur: Chandil police confiscated 72 boxes of illicit liquor from a chowshed in Kanderbera on Saturday and arrested one Kalyan Patro.
According to Sandeep Bhagat, SDPO, Chandil, “We had got a tip-off about 100 cartons of illicit liquor having been brought to Haryana six days ago. The liquor boxes were brought in a truck after being hidden under potato sacks. The accused persons were selling the liquor in the adjoining areas.”
A team led by Adikant Mahanto, Officer In-charge of Chandil PS, conducted a raid at the cowshed owned by one Manjeet Singh. It however failed to catch hold of Manjeet Singh, Kalia Gope and two others who escaped during the raid. An FIR was lodged against the accused persons in this connection with the Chandil PS.
