Jamshedpur/Ranchi, June 22: Coronavirus cases are touching newer heights in Jharkhand with every passing day. Multiplying more than three times in the last three weeks, the total number of coronavirus cases crossed 2,100 in Jharkhand on Monday. The number of Covid-19 cases was around 600 in the first week of the month. With 42 new cases on Monday state corona tally has reached 2140.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has risen to 328 with 6 new cases reported on June 22.
Of the 6 positives in Jamshedpur, 2 have travel history to Mumbai and 1 person has returned from Chennai. 3 positive people are resident of Telco, one each reside at Sakchi, Asansol (West Bengal) and Mousabani. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 ward. On Monday, 8 patients have recovered in the East Singhbhum district of which 4 from TMH and 4 from MGM COVID-19 ward have been discharged. Of the 8 discharged 3 are resident of Mousabani, 2 from Dhalbhumgarh and one each from Baridih, Potka and Chakulia.
Other positives in Jharkhand are from Deoghar 11, Giridih 7, Simdega 7, Hazaribagh 3, Ranchi 3, Chatra 2, Dhanbad 1, Lohardaga 1 and Palamau 1 taking the total tally to 2140 in the state.
In Jharkhand 1469 patients have defeated the virus while 660 active cases are still present in the state. Of the 24 districts in the state 8 were declared corona free but the virus again retuned in 6 of those districts on Sunday. Pakur and Dumka are the only corona free districts in Jharkhand. Total of 1755 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1. Simdega has 324 positive cases 312 are migrants.
In Jharkhand, there has been no percentage prevalence of community transmission found in the Sero-Survey conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in three districts of the state.
Based on the reports received by ICMR, there is no community transmission of COVID-19 in Jharkhand.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 328 cases out of a total of 2140. The state has allowed reopening of garments and footwear shops. The religious places are still closed.
