Parents demonstrate on demand of No School No Fee in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur:  Parents of various private schools in Jamshedpur staged a symbolic demonstration on the premises of the District Education Superintendent Office, demanding No School No Fee.

A large number of parents united under the Jharkhand Parents Association and Shiksha Satyagraha demanded a ban on the collection of fees of private schools. Parents associated with many schools said that private schools consider parents as ATM machines. Many non-reasonable charges are being imposed on them. Parents also expressed concern over the possibility of the school opening by August and demanded from the district administration that they would not send their children to school until the coronavirus vaccine and medicines were made.

In support of the demands, a delegation of parents, met District Education Superintendent Vineet Kumar and submitted a memorandum.

East Singhbhum District President of Jharkhand Parents Association, Dr. Pushpa Shrivastava said that no clear orders were issued on the subject of fees from the government level. Private school management is taking advantage of the delay.

Parents are being threatened through messages and calls. Threats to stop children’s exams and to be removed from school are unfair and demanding extortion. Appu Tiwari, the founding member of Shiksha Satyagraha, said that the parents are facing financial hardship in the lockdown. Many have lost their jobs. He said that the government should immediately issue concrete orders to provide relief to the parents so that the deadlock over the fees should be stopped.

The district education superintendent of East Singhbhum told the delegation who arrived to submit the memorandum that there has been interference from the education minister and the government level in terms of fees. Appropriate orders and notifications are likely to be issued soon. On the occasion, Vijay Tiwari, Appu Tiwari, Ankit Anand, Dr. Pushpa Shrivastava, Praveen Prasad, Shadab Khan, Sanjeev Kumar, Amit Nandi, Manoj Kumar, Prakash Kumar, Sachchidanand Singh, Mukul Poddar, Ravi Sonkar, Sumit Gopal, Deepak Yadav, Shravan Kumar Ghosh, Ruma Saw, Shekhar Mandal, Mukesh Rajan, Anil Kumar Ojha, Manoj Kumar, Roshan Lal, Anwani Begum, Amarnath Chaudhary, Srikkanth, Lallu were present.
