DBMS College Celebrates International Mother Language Day

DBMS College of Education recently hosted a grand multi-lingual celebration to mark International Mother Language Day. The event, graced by Chief Guest Mrs. Soma Banerjee (Principal, Career Academy) and Guest of Honor Mrs. Vasanti Raghuram (President, DBMS Lilliput School), highlighted the beauty of linguistic diversity through art and performance.

Event Highlights and Activities

The students and faculty organized a series of engaging segments that showcased both Indian and global cultures:

  • Creative Language Models: Students designed creative exhibits representing various Indian languages, explaining their cultural significance and history.
  • Cultural Showcase: The program featured a welcoming dance by first-semester students, followed by a stirring group song led by teacher Mrs. Amrita Chaudhary.
  • Unity in Diversity: Dancers performed traditional routines in various Indian mother tongues and international styles, emphasizing global unity.
  • Expert Insights: Vice Principal Dr. Monica Uppal delivered a keynote speech on the vital importance of preserving one’s mother tongue and cultural heritage.

Competition Winners

Under the supervision of Dr. Meenakshi Chaudhary, students competed in a model presentation contest. The winners included:

  • First Prize: Odia Language Group
  • Second Prize: Santhali Language Group
  • Third Prize: Gurmukhi Language Group

A Collaborative Success

The event concluded with a formal prize distribution and a vote of thanks by Moumita Mandal and Nandini Singh. The success of the program was made possible through the support of the DBMS Trust leadership, including Chairperson Mrs. Lalitha Chandrashekhar and Secretary Sripriya Dharmarajan, alongside the dedicated college faculty and staff.
