XLRI Hosts Conclave on ‘Labour Aspirations in Viksit Bharat’

Jamshedpur: The social impact committee of XLRI Jamshedpur, SIGMA-oikos, organized the 9th edition of the Social Entrepreneurship Conclave (SEC-9) on the theme “Labour Aspirations in Viksit Bharat.” The event united policymakers, industry leaders, and academia to discuss India’s changing livelihood landscape.

Around 250 students from XLRI and other institutions attended the conclave, signaling a strong interest in labour dignity and inclusive growth among future professionals.

Expert Panels Address Skilling and Agriculture

The conclave featured two high-level discussions focused on the unorganized sector and rural livelihoods:

  • Dignity in the Unorganized Sector: Former Skill Development Secretary Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari delivered the keynote. The panel explored formalization and worker welfare, featuring representatives from South Eastern Railway, Mahindra First Choice Wheels, and INTUC Jharkhand.

  • Aspirations in Agriculture: Former Divisional Commissioner Shri Jata Shankar Choudhary opened the session. Panelists from NABARD and various agri-tech firms discussed structural shifts in rural entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods.

XL-JESEY Awards Recognize Social Innovators

Following the discussions, XLRI presented the 3rd Emerging Social Entrepreneur of the Year (XL-JESEY) Awards. This year’s awards honored entrepreneurs strengthening rural enterprises and agri-based livelihoods.

Four winners each received a cash prize of ₹1 lakh for their outstanding contributions:

  1. Shri Nishant Kumar (Kingfisheries Farms)

  2. Smt. Jayanti Pradhan (Gopal BioTech Agro Farm)

  3. Shri Biswajit Bordoloi (Assam Green Tech)

  4. Smt. Preeti Singh (Vasundhara Biofibers)

Dean (Academics) Prof. Sanjay Patro presented the awards alongside faculty advisors. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. Saurav Snehvrat, marking a successful close to the 2026 conclave.
