Kargil War is a beacon of patriotism for generations: Arjun Munda
Jamshedpur, August 3: “The Kargil war is a source of inspiration for every Indian and a beacon of patriotism for generations to come,” said former Chief Minister and Union Minister Arjun Munda, while addressing a large gathering at the Ram Mandir Auditorium in Telco on the occasion of the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas. The event, organized by the All India Ex-Servicemen Service Council, Jamshedpur, honoured the bravery and sacrifices of India’s war heroes.
The auditorium reverberated with patriotic slogans and poems such as “Kargil ke veeron, Bharat ko tum par garv hai”, as citizens from all parts of the city gathered to pay tribute to the 579 martyrs of the Kargil war. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of lamps by war heroes, veer naris, and dignitaries including Arjun Munda, Tata Motors GM Jivraj Sandhu, BJP spokesperson Amarpreet Singh, Shivshankar Singh of Koshika, and BJP city president Sudhanshu Ojha.

Over 30 Kargil war veterans were honoured with shawls, bouquets, and mementos for their selfless service. Among those felicitated were Havildar Manik Vardha, Jasvir Singh, Rakesh Sharan, and brave women including Seema Devi, Durgavati Devi, and Padma. The event featured patriotic songs, dances, and dramatic performances, with poems filled with valor stirring the hearts of all present.
In his emotional address, Arjun Munda said, “The bravery of Indian soldiers who climbed from below and reclaimed the peaks from intruders is unparalleled. Their sacrifice cannot be described in words.”
Ex-Servicemen Service Council President Vinay Kumar Yadav emphasized the continued fight for the honour of soldiers. General Secretary Jitendra Kumar Singh stated that soldiers are role models and their dedication should inspire civilians.
Kargil war hero Manik Vardha recounted live scenes from the battlefield, evoking goosebumps. The program concluded with slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Veer Shaheed Amar Rahe” echoing throughout the hall.
