Jamshedpur: A 26 year-old youth, identified as Raj Bardha, was hacked to death in Bindapur village of Jaikan panchayat under Gamharia police station area (in Seraikela-Kharsawan) late Wednesday night.
The youths body was found lying at some distance away from his house this morning. He was allegedly killed with sharp weapons.
Police said four assailants armed with sharp weapons had attacked Bardha and injured him critically. The body of the deceased was sent to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for postmortem. The officer in-charge of Gamharia police station, Jai Prakash Rana said a search was on to nab the accused persons.
“As per the investigation carried out so far, it has been found that the murder took place as a result of land dispute. The deceased youth was a social activist who had launched a campaign against the sale of illicit liquor in the area. This had irked many hooch traders of the area. This could be the reason behind his killing,” said Rana.
“We are probing the incident. The family members are yet to give a statement to the police in connection with the murder. But we are trying to detect the case by speaking to the local residents,” said the OC.
