25 driving schools will be opened in Jharkhand: Gadkari

Ranchi, Nov 15: A total of 25 driving schools will be opened in Jharkhand, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari said today while addressing the 17th statehood day anniversary celebrations at the Morabadi ground.

“There is a need for two lakh trained drivers in the country and 25 drivers training centres will be opened in Jharkhand. We are planning to open such centres in backward areas of the country to train youths,” Gadkari said.
He said, “Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power, the National Highways in Jharkhand increased from 2,661 km to 5,390 km.”

“We are working on the development of inland waterways which is the cheapest way of transport. This year we are working on the Ganga waterways project and next year Subarnarekha river waterways of Jharkhand project will be taken up. I will come back to Jharkhand after 15 days for the Ganga waterways project.

The 26 rivers of the state will be developed as waterways. The DPR of Swarnarekha and Kharkai riverway projects are being prepared,” Gadkari said.

Gadkari said a bridge will be constructed on the Ganga in Sahibganj district of Jharkhand. He said the PM will be invited to inaugurate the project. Highway projects worth Rs 10,000 crore will also be announced on the occasion, he said.

The minister further said that a gateway will be constructed in Sahebganj to pave way for smooth import and export through waterways to Bangladesh, Myanmar and Bangkok.
