Jamshedpur, July 8: A fresh incident of gun violence rocked Jamshedpur on Wednesday after Rahul Bachcha, a resident of Gurudwara Basti in Mango, was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Munshi Mohalla, Post Office Road in Dimna Road area.

Rahul sustained critical gunshot injuries and was rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where doctors declared him dead during treatment.

The news of his death triggered tension at TMH as a large number of family members and supporters gathered at the hospital. Anticipating trouble, the police deployed additional personnel along with the Quick Response Team (QRT) to maintain law and order.

Senior police officers, including the officer-in-charge of Bistupur police station and DSP Manoj Thakur, reached the hospital to assess the situation and supervise the investigation.

Police have launched a probe to identify the attackers and ascertain the motive behind the shooting. No arrests have been made so far, and investigators are examining all possible angles.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the spate of violent crimes in Jamshedpur, with residents expressing alarm over the recent rise in shootings and other criminal activities across the city.
Police said efforts are underway to trace the assailants and bring them to justice at the earliest.
