Jamshedpur, July 9: In a significant initiative to connect local businesses with global markets, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), in association with FICCI, organised exclusive one-to-one business meetings with senior officials of the Sharjah Airport International Free (SAIF) Zone, Government of Sharjah, UAE, at Hotel Vivanta, Golmuri, on July 9-10.
The interaction aimed to familiarise entrepreneurs from the Kolhan region with investment and business expansion opportunities in the United Arab Emirates, particularly through the SAIF Zone—one of the UAE’s leading free trade zones known for its investor-friendly ecosystem.
The Sharjah delegation included Ali Al Mutawa and Shoaeb Ibrahim Khatib, while Sejal Singh represented FICCI.
Representing the SCCI were president Manav Kedia, treasurer Anil Ringasia, vice-president (Trade & Commerce) Anil Modi, vice-president (Taxation & Finance) Rajiv Agarwal, along with executive committee members Pankaj Patel, Kamal Ladha, and Bajrang Agarwal.
During the sessions, SAIF Zone officials highlighted that the organisation has been operating successfully for over three decades and that this was their fifth visit to Jamshedpur, underscoring the city’s growing importance as a business destination. They informed participants that more than 8,500 companies operate from the SAIF Zone, nearly 60 per cent of which are Indian enterprises.
They also noted that the UAE has 55 free zones offering world-class infrastructure and a highly conducive business environment.
The delegation outlined a host of incentives for Indian entrepreneurs looking to establish operations in Sharjah, including industrial plots, ready warehouses, labour accommodation, and modern infrastructure at competitive terms.
They also emphasised benefits such as zero customs duty, zero income tax, resident visa facilities, easy opening of local bank accounts, and company registration within just 60 minutes, making the SAIF Zone an attractive gateway for businesses targeting the Middle East and international markets.
Entrepreneurs from diverse sectors participated enthusiastically in the interactive meetings, holding detailed discussions on investment prospects, export opportunities, and business expansion strategies in the UAE.
Speaking on the occasion, SCCI president Manav Kedia said such interactions provide a valuable international platform for businesses in the Kolhan region to explore new markets and forge global partnerships. He expressed confidence that the opportunities offered by the Government of Sharjah would encourage more Indian entrepreneurs to expand their presence in the Middle East.
SCCI thanked FICCI and the Government of Sharjah for bringing international business opportunities directly to Jamshedpur and reiterated its commitment to facilitating similar initiatives that strengthen the global competitiveness of businesses from the region.
