Jamshedpur, August 20: Jamshedpur Lok Sabha Yuva Congress Committee on Saturday celebrated the 72nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi as Sadbhavna Diwas.
Led by Yuva Congress committee vice-president Rakesh Sahu, the congressmen garlanded the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi and paid him rich tributes at Sakchi Shaheed Chowk.
During the programme, chocolates were distributed among the people. This was followed by Sadbhavna Yatra which started from Shaheed chowk which traversed through various areas of Sakchi, Rajiv Gandhi Chowk in Kasidih before culminating back at Shaheed Chowk.
Later addressing the gathering, Ajay Singh, secretary, Jharkhand Congress, senior leader Anand Bihari Dubey, Youth INTUC secretary Sanjiv Srivastav, said, Rajiv Gandhi gave voting rights to the 18-years-old youth of the country. He dreamt of a taking the country to the 21st century, fight for the rights of the poor.
We have to make it a priority to make his dreams a reality. Our main focus is to remove the corrupt state and central BJP government. The programme was headed by Rakesh Sahu. He said, Rajiv Gandhi laid the foundation for a technologically advanced India.
On the occasion Ashok Singh, Rahul Goswami, Shamsher Alam, Akhilesh Mishra, Shambhu Singh, Rohit Sharma, Mukesh Yadav, Surendra Sharma, Rohit Kumar, Rounak Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Kamlesh Sao, Shrawa Sao, Manoj Sao, Paras Mukhi, Sunil Prasad and others were present.
