Jamshedpur, June 21: International Yoga Day was celebrated at Srinath University on Tuesday, June 21. The special session was organized by the School of Health and Allied Science of Srinath University in Adityapur. The programme in celebration of International Yoga Day was organised in the auditorium of Srinath University.
Faculty of Yoga and Naturopathy, Shayan Mandal spoke on the essence of Yoga as a part of daily life to develop and maintain qualitative physical, mental and spiritual capabilities. The students and faculty members of Srinath University’s various streams performed several Yog Asanas under the supervision and guidance of Shayan Mandal. Students of the University’s Department of Education performed dances that highlighted several Yog Asana postures. Yoga and Posture Competition was organized on the occasion in which, Singo emerged as the winner. Kavita Mahato and Pushkar bagged the First Runners-up slot while the pair of Sambhav and Soni were adjudged the second Runners-up.
In the Extempore Segment, Pushkar was declared the winner followed by Vivek Kapur (First Runner-up) and Shreya (Second Runner-up). The panel of judges included Secretary of the Srinath University Gurudev Mahto, Faculty of Yoga and Naturopathy Shayan Mandal, Faculty of Education Vikas Prasad and and Faculty of Commerce and Management Ravi Singh. The Chancellor of Srinath University, Sukhdev Mahato was present during the programme. He said, “Yoga being a holistic practice should be a part of everyone’s life. Unfortunately, in these modern times of busy and chaotic life styles that marks man’s rush to nowhere, we barely get time to practice Yoga that ensures physical, mental and spiritual wellness. We should make it a point to eke out time for Yoga and Pranayam to be at peace with ourselves and with people and situations around us.”
Gurudev Mahato, Secretary of Srinath University’s Managing Committee observed, “In order to have a healthy and fetter-free life, one must practice Yoga that helps in overcoming stress and anxiety.”
