Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum administration has decided to intensify its crackdown on illegal narcotics trade by increasing surveillance in sensitive areas of the city and conducting regular raid operations to protect youth from drug abuse.
The decisions were taken during a meeting of the District-level Narcotics Coordination Committee (NCORD) held at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on strengthening enforcement measures, preventing drug abuse among youth, and launching extensive awareness campaigns across the district.
During the meeting, directives were issued to maintain special vigilance in sensitive localities and intensify joint operations by the Police and Excise Department. Officials were instructed to strengthen intelligence networks and ensure strict legal action against individuals engaged in the trafficking, storage, and sale of narcotic substances.
Ranjan emphasized the need for constant monitoring around educational institutions to prevent students and youth from falling prey to addiction. He instructed officials to organize awareness programmes in schools and colleges to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and substance addiction.
The meeting also stressed the importance of keeping de-addiction and rehabilitation services active and accessible. Appealing to the public for cooperation, the Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to report any information related to illegal drug trade and consumption.
