Ranchi: Addressing a programme conducted on the occasion of International Labor Day, Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Monday said that the pension being given to the labourers has been increased to Rs. 750 per month from the previous rate of Rs. 550.
The beneficiaries of Family Pension Scheme will get Rs. 500 in place of Rs. 300. These schemes will be implemented with effect from 1st May, 2017.
Das said that due to unavailability of jobs in remote areas, youths often get distracted by negative thoughts and activities. The government has pressed into service private security companies in extremism-affected Pesrar, Jhumra and Gurabandh to provide employment to 900 youths.
These youths are getting Rs. 8500 in salary, he said.
Appealing to workers of unorganized sectors, the CM said they should get registered to avail the schemes of state and central governments. This will keep middlemen at bay, he said, adding that the bank accounts of workers of unorganized sectors should be opened by organizing camps.
The CM said the Department of Labour, Skill Development and Employment is skilling the youths in extremism affected areas. He laid stress on skilling the workers to uplift their economic status and prosper them. He thanked the Department of Labour, Skill Development and Employment for achieving 1st position in the nation for two consecutive years.
Das said that due to simplification of Labour laws, investors are coming to the state and people are getting employed. Sakhi mandals are formed for employment generation. The government is also running Antyodaya scheme. After having conducted a survey of widows and orphans, the government will build homes for them, he said.
Addressing the laborers on International Labour Day, Urban Development Minister C. P. Singh said that the government is committed to enhance the lives of people who build the nation. He appealed to the CM to get rickshaw pullers, auto drivers and sweepers registered as workers and start free health services for them.
Labour Minister Raj Paliwar said that felicitation of workers on International Labour Day had been started on the direction of the CM. The government is running many welfare schemes for the labourers to uplift their social and economic status. The state government is planning to fix Rs. 325 as minimum wage as fixed by the central government they have also been connected with Atal Pension Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Yojana.
Labour Secretary Amitabh Kaushal said that only an online form has to be filled for Ease of Doing Business. �The department has conducted 27 Rojgar Melas and employed 19,000 people. As many as 32 ITIs have been started for training the youths and the government is thinking to start 25 new ITIs in govt. buildings. 22 schemes are running for workers in Building Construction Department,� he said.
On this occasion, the CM distributed appointment letters among workers and gave sewing machines and safety kits to women.
