Winter is here, so is Jamshedpur Fest!

Jamshedpur, Dec. 11: Winter is probably the favorite season for every one of us and to match the scintillating colours of nature during this season, steel city is all set to witness the inaugural �Jamshedpur Fest.�

Following the success of the first two editions of Jamshedpur Carnival, the city is set for the third edition of the entertainment extravaganza which promises to be bigger and better. Tata Steel, which organizes several events from staring of November to end of January like the flower show, dog show, mushaira, steel city golf and so on, has been put these events together under �Jamshedpur Fest.�

�From November to January, these two months are the best time of the year and city ready for inaugural Jamshedpur Fest will add distinct flavor to the festivities. With this fest we want to take Jamshedpur to India and world map and make it a happening place so that people from all over the country can come and enjoy these two months�, said Sunil Bhaskaran, vice-president (Corporate Services), Tata Steel.

Addressing a press conference, Bhaskaran said, from mushiara for poetry lovers to dance and musical escapades, from Master Chef to children�s film festival, and Vibrant Jamshedpur Carnival Parade, there is something for everyone at the Jamshedpur Fest.

Ashish Mathur, managing director, Jusco, said, the Jamshedpur Fest started with �Samvaad- a tribal Conclave� at Gopal Maidan on November 11 and will terminate on January 23 with �Vaarta- An Agricultural Meet� at the same venue.

Mathur informed that several events have been lined during the next six weeks, wherein for the first �Navodit, a festival of young talents in music and dance will be organized by Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata, from December 12 at the local Rabindra Kala Mandir. A coin exhibition will be held from December 13 to 15 at Red Cross Society Bhawan.

On December 19, 40 teenagers from Gandhi Aahram School (GAPO), Kalimpong, for the disadvantaged children, will host a musical soiree and play violin, cello and guitar. �Bollywood Tadka,� a dance performance, will be followed by NTTF.

Ronald D�Costa, charter president of Jamshedpur Hoteliers Association and the brain behind the Jamshedpur Carnival, said, the carnival parade would be a replica of what happens in Goa and Rio (Brazil) and will have flavours of Latin band playing live, vintage cars, surprise package of Santa Claus, bagpiper band, horses, dancers etc. The parade will be falgged off by SSP and SDO from near the statue of Jamshetji Tata at Jubilee Park and finish at the Gopal Maidan. D�Costa added that the Jamshedpur Hoteliers Association will celebrate the International Food Festival from December 19 to 24, 2015 at the Gopal Maidan.

GM Sharan, Head, Urban Services, Tata Steel, said, Gopal Maidan will also witness Master Chef Competition for school children, housewives and men along with a Dance Fest, Sa Re Ga Ma, Colours of India, Ethnic Fashion Show, Bollywood Sufi night by Adil Hossain, Clash of Bands.

Sharan said that rife shooting will be organized for the first time from December 25 to 27at the Rifle Club, CH Area. Like every year, a flower Show will be organized from December 26 to 29at the Gopal Maidan. Annual dog show will be organized at JRD Sports Complex from January 9 to 10, while Steel City Golf will be held at Beldih and Golmuri golf courses from January 15 to 17. The fest will conclude with Vaarta from January 21 to 23 at Gopal Maidan, Sharan added.
