Jamshedpur: Daring burglars targeted a vacant house in Nildih Gwala Basti under the Telco police station area, decamping with gold jewellery worth approximately ₹18–20 lakh. The incident has sparked fear and outrage among local residents.
The burglars executed the crime with meticulous planning, breaking open six door locks to enter the residence of Avdhesh Kumar. Once inside, the miscreants ransacked six almirahs and fled with a substantial quantity of gold ornaments.
The theft came to light when the victim’s family returned home after a five-day absence; they had been attending a wedding at their other residence in Namda Basti. Upon discovering the ransacked house, the family immediately alerted the authorities.
Telco police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Officers are currently questioning neighbours and scanning the area for leads to identify the culprits.
The burglary has triggered significant anger in the locality, with residents raising serious concerns over security lapses. Many have demanded that the police intensify night patrolling to prevent similar crimes.
“We are examining all possible angles and will soon crack the case,” a police official stated, while assuring the community of increased vigilance in the area.
