Kolkata (IANS): Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday characterized the sexual harassment and religious coercion allegations at the TCS Nashik branch as “extremely serious,” revealing that investigators have uncovered a systematic “module” behind the activities.
Speaking to the media in Kolkata during an election campaign, Fadnavis confirmed that preliminary probes suggest the incidents were not isolated. He emphasized that the state government is treating the matter with the utmost gravity and has already alerted central agencies.
“This matter is very serious, and we are taking very strict action on it. It has come to our attention that this was done under a module,” Fadnavis stated.
The Chief Minister praised Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for its proactive cooperation, noting that the company is actively aiding the investigation rather than shielding the accused. He remarked that the leadership at TCS has “strongly condemned” the actions and that their refusal to protect perpetrators sets a vital precedent for corporate accountability.
The case involves multiple FIRs filed by female employees alleging stalking, mental torture, and sexual harassment spanning from 2022 to March 2026. Investigations also revealed a pattern of religious coercion, including allegations that senior staff pressured employees to consume specific foods and participate in religious practices against their beliefs.
The Nashik police have already arrested several individuals, including senior staff and an HR official accused of ignoring internal complaints. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is now probing the “organized” nature of these crimes, while local authorities review CCTV footage and digital communications to identify further suspects.
