Jamshedpur, Dec. 11: In a daring escapade, a criminal hoodwinked the police and fled from custody while undergoing treatment at MGM Medical College and Hospital in the city on Friday morning.

Mohammed Fadul-Ul- Farad, 26-year-old son of Mohammed Nasim of Millat Nagar in Jugsalai, is a warranty in criminal case who was arrested by Jugsalai police on Thursday.

He was sent to MGM Medical College and Hospital in Sakchi for treatment for chest pain complaints and the attending doctor at the emergency advised him chest X-ray.

The chest X-ray was scheduled today, but the criminal, who was accompanied by two guards from the Jugsalai police station, managed to escape from his bed at the emergency unit. Farard seized the opportunity to flee when the guards were reportedly busy having tea.

We are in state of shock and dont know how he managed to escape. The criminal was handcuffed on his left hand which was locked to his bed. But he somehow managed to free his hand from the handcuff with his right hand and seizing opportunity when the two guards had gone to enjoy a sip of tea managed to come out from the emergency unit, said a guard on duty near the emergency unit.

Meanwhile, Jugsalai police station officer-in-charge Ashok Giri said that disciplinary actions will be taken against the two police guards from his police stations deputed to guard.

It is really surprising that the escape happened from the hospital premises and disciplinary action as per law would be taken against the two guards sent on duty from our police station. However, the arrested youth was not involved in any major incident but was arrested for evading arrest warrant in petty crime of assaulting a youth in his locality several months back, Giri said.
