West Singhbhum: CRPF sub-inspector injured in IED blast, pipe bomb recovered

Jamshedpur, Jan 25: West Singhbhum has emerged as the hot bed of Naxal violence with the banned outfit CPI (Maoist) increasing its activities. In yet another incident of an IED blast, a CRPF sub-inspector Insar Ali jawan sustained injuries.

The incident took place at Jojohatu forest under the Mufassil police station area when Ali, a sub-inspector with the 197 CRPF battalion, was on a combing operation to flush out Maoist from the region.

Soon after the incident he was immediately airlifted and admitted to Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Superspecialty hospital for proper treatment.Meanwhile, during search operation the forces also recovered a pipe bomb from the forest region.

Significantly, in view of Maoists activities in the district, police authority are taking extra attention while deployment of forces in the strategic location keeping the naxal-sponsored violence at rural areas.

In view of Republic Day, East Singhbhum district police maintains that it has beefed up the security arrangement at the areas that fall in its jurisdiction, the authority of West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts claimed that they are deploying forces at strategic locations in the township and also the rural areas.

Similarly, at naxal-infested areas in West Singhbhum district, the police will undertake special operations so that the rebels may not come over ground during the Republic Day celebration anywhere.

An official pointed out that the separate teams of police and paramilitary forces will  remain mobile and ready to respond to any emergency.  “The moment we get information about a naxal act in any of the spots, the special operation will be launched immediately,” he said.

The preparedness for a peaceful Republic Day celebration is on at the East Singhbhum district also.  Senior  superintendent of police Prabhat Kumar said that police and paramilitary forces are being deployed at a  number of locations in Ghatshila sub-division so that the people living in the rebel-infested areas can celebrate the national festival fearlessly.

However, concern over the recent spurt in Maoists activities in the region over a thousand police personnel have been posted in and around the city and at all vital installations.

“High profile security arrangements have been made this time. The recent cases of the crime in the city are also one of the prime reasons for the additional deployment of security forces. JAP commandos have been deployed to thwart any untoward incident. Moreover, all the key installations in the city will also be under the hawk-eyed vigil of the police,” said a senior district official.

The police and administrative machineries are gearing up to security arrangements after putting the police stations in all these three districts under Kolhan on high alert.
