Jamshedpur, August 22: Water scarcity has once again plagued the Mango area, prompting a significant response from BJP leader Devendra Singh. On Thursday, Singh, a former president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jamshedpur district and a candidate for the Jamshedpur West Assembly seat, met with Mango Municipal Corporation Additional Commisioner Ranjit Lohra to address the pressing issue.
Singh highlighted that several areas in Mango have been without water for the past three days, attributing the disruption to a malfunctioning water supply motor. He questioned why such breakdowns occur every few months and why there are no spare parts available to prevent these outages. The lack of reliable water supply has caused significant distress among local residents, given the area’s high population of over 250,000.
Administrator Lohra assured Singh that he would consult with the executive engineer of the Public Health Department (PHD) to address the issue. He promised that the malfunctioning motor would be repaired by August 23, ensuring the resumption of water supply. Lohra also committed to arranging water tankers in areas experiencing severe shortages and acknowledged the need for new pipelines in parts of Mango.
Singh criticized the local representative, Minister Banna Gupta, and the UPA government’s handling of water issues, accusing them of inefficiency and corruption. He warned of potential protests if the water crisis is not resolved promptly, including a possible blockade of the PHD office and demonstrations against the Mango Municipal Corporation
