Water crisis hits Jamshedpur

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, July 31: The residents of Birsanagar, Moharda, Bagunhatu, Bagunnagar, Baridih, and other areas are grappling with a severe disruption in drinking water supply. The problem stems from rain-induced debris and garbage clogging the intake well, preventing water from reaching the treatment plant.

The issue came to light when the personal secretary of Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy, accompanied by local leaders Vijay Narayan Singh, Kashinath Pradhan, and Amar Chand Jha, visited the Moharda Water Treatment Plant to investigate the supply disruption. The officials explained that the accumulation of dirty water and garbage due to recent rains had obstructed the intake well, leading to the supply halt.

The plant authorities assured that efforts are underway to resume water supply promptly. However, Sudhir Singh, representing the concerned citizens, warned that if the situation is not rectified within 15 days, they will consider legal action and protests. For the past four and a half years, this plant has been providing regular water supply twice a day, thanks to the persistent efforts of MLA Saryu Roy.
