Ranchi: The Jharkhand Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, on Wednesday approved 53 key proposals during a meeting held at the state secretariat. The decisions aim to boost urban infrastructure, education, healthcare, and administrative efficiency across the state.
Briefing the media after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel said that the government has approved amendments to the existing rules to regularise unauthorised constructions. Under the revised provisions, residential buildings up to G+2 (10 metres in height) with a maximum area of 300 square metres can now be regularised. A fee of ₹10,000 will be charged for residential buildings and ₹20,000 for commercial structures.
In a major push to healthcare, the Cabinet decided to develop sadar hospitals in Khunti, Giridih, Jamtara, and Dhanbad into medical colleges under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
The Cabinet also approved several initiatives in the education sector. A state-level quiz competition will now be organised for students of government schools, ITIs, and polytechnic institutes. Additionally, higher educational institutions will be required to observe important national and international days to enhance students’ awareness of history and social issues. Grand celebrations for National Mathematics Day and National Science Day will also be organised to promote research and innovation among students.
To address traffic congestion in Ranchi, the Cabinet approved a major infrastructure project worth ₹162 crore. The road from Namkum to Doranda will be widened into a four-lane stretch, which is expected to significantly ease traffic jams in the city.
The Cabinet also gave its nod to the Jharkhand Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, which is likely to improve tax management and revenue collection. Several other proposals related to filling vacancies in different departments and amendments in service rules were also approved. Additionally, an increase in dearness allowance for state employees was sanctioned.
