Chaibasa, September 18: Vishwakarma Puja was celebrated with great fervor across Kolhan, including Chaibasa. This Hindu festival honors Lord Vishwakarma, regarded as the creator of the universe and the God of craftsmanship. The celebration is particularly significant for industries, factories, workshops, and locations like bus stands, where people worship their tools, machines, and vehicles.
Artisans and craftsmen observed the festival by worshipping their tools and machinery, praying for continued success. Homes and workplaces were adorned with decorations as people participated in the rituals.
In Chaibasa, Vishwakarma Puja was celebrated at the bus stand, taxi stand, and several shops, with lighting arrangements adding to the festive atmosphere. After the afternoon puja, prasad was distributed to devotees. Despite morning rain causing concern among shopkeepers, crowds later gathered to do marketing. Many people washed their vehicles and brought them to temples, where priests conducted rituals for two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
