Violent Clash in Jamshedpur: 5 Injured in Late-Night Knife Attack Near Azadnagar Police Station

A violent confrontation erupted between two groups on Saturday night in the Noor Colony area of Old Purulia Road, leaving five people seriously injured. The incident occurred just 50 meters away from the Azadnagar Police Station at approximately 8:45 PM, sparking tension throughout the locality.

Dispute Over Illegal Trade

According to preliminary police reports, the clash was rooted in a dispute involving the illegal drug trade. The tension had reportedly been simmering for three days following a verbal spat between two individuals, Yasin and Shoaib. On Saturday night, the argument escalated into a full-scale brawl involving sharp weapons and knives.

Casualties and Hospitalization

The five injured individuals have been identified as:

• Side A: Mohammad Shamim and Mohammad Shoaib. Shamim reportedly sustained wounds to his chest and hand, while Shoaib suffered injuries to his neck and chest.
• Side B: Yusuf Khan, Saif Khan, and Anas.

All victims were immediately rushed to the MGM Hospital for treatment. However, the violence did not stop there; members from both factions reportedly clashed again within the hospital premises, causing chaos and requiring hospital security and police intervention to restore order.

Arson and Public Panic

During the initial melee in Noor Colony, an angry mob targeted the attackers’ vehicles. One motorcycle was set on fire after its fuel pipe was intentionally cut. Police arrived just in time to prevent the fire from spreading further and managed to douse the flames.

Police Investigation Underway

Senior police officials confirmed that the situation is currently under control, though a heavy police presence remains in the area to prevent further escalation.

“We are investigating the root cause of the conflict and identifying all participants involved in the knife attack,” a police spokesperson stated. “CCTV footage from the area and the hospital is being scanned to ensure all culprits are brought to justice.”

Noor Colony and surrounding neighborhoods remain on high alert as the community reels from the brazen nature of the attack occurring so close to a police outpost.
