Ensemble-Valhalla kicks off at XLRI Jamshedpur : Startups without innovation is ineffective, says Vineet Nayar

Jamshedpur: During his address to students at XLRI, Vineet Nayar, an alumnus of the institution and former CEO of HCL Technologies, stressed the critical role of innovation in the success of startups. Nayar, who is also the founder and co-chairman of the Sampark Foundation, delivered this message while attending the inauguration of Ensemble-Valhalla at the XLRI Auditorium as the chief guest.

The three-day festival’s opening ceremony included the lighting of the lamp by Nayar and other distinguished guests. During his speech, Vineet Nayar recounted his own experiences at XLRI, dating back to 1983, and shared an incident involving Professor McGrath and tribal disturbances on campus. This incident prompted him to emphasize the word “Adivasi” as a common theme among students’ written reflections.

Nayar advised students to first decide whether they want to pursue a job or launch their own startup. For job-seekers, he emphasized the importance of finding work that truly makes them happy and aligns with their interests. In the context of startups, Nayar underlined the vital role of innovation, stating that without it, a startup would be futile. He encouraged students to carefully consider their objectives before taking action, drawing an analogy to how dogs follow a trail, emphasizing the importance of purposeful direction.

Vineet Nayar also engaged with students by answering their questions and reminiscing about his own experiences, inspiring and motivating the future leaders of XLRI.
