Vijay Kumar emphasizes global recognition of Seraikela Chhau

Seraikela, April 12: Principal District and Sessions Judge Vijay Kumar highlighted the global recognition of Seraikela Chhau, stating that it was no longer dependent on identity. Speaking at the inauguration of the State Chaitra Festival Chhau Mahotsav, Kumar emphasized the importance of providing adequate security to international learners of Chhau in Seraikela, enabling them to spread the culture of this dance form upon their return to their respective countries.

The festival, jointly organized by the District Administration and the Rajkiya Chhau Nritya Kala Kendra, Seraikela, commenced with a colorful inauguration ceremony at Birsa Munda Stadium. Principal District and Sessions Judge Vijay Kumar, along with Additional Sessions Judge Kumar Kranti Prasad and Kharsawan Raja Gopal Narayan Singhdev, formally inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.

The festivities began with a puja on stage, followed by captivating performances including Gutipuo, Nagpuri, Singua Chhau, Odissi, Mayurbhanj Chhau, Dhap Gudka, tribal dance, Purulia Chhau, Manbhum Chhau, and Jhumar by artistes from various regions.

The event witnessed a massive turnout of spectators, with each performance receiving enthusiastic applause, captivating the audience throughout the Mahotsav.
