Jamshedpur, June 5: Tata Steel UISL planted 1100 Sagwan saplings at Ramnagar Park in Kadma on the occasion of World Environment Day here on Sunday.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Mamata Priyadarshi was also present on the occasion. Addressing a gathering, she threw light on the importance of Environment Day. She said 50 years have passed to the first Environment Day celebrations and still a lot needs to be done on the environmental front. She said protecting plants is as important as planting them. She said all individuals should protect trees.
The DFO also informed the gathering about Panchamrit Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and stressed on using renewable energy resources. She said clean energy should be promoted to reduce carbon emission to achieve the target of reducing carbon emission by one billion tonne set for the year 2030. All natural sources of water should be conserved, she said.
