Plant five trees on birth of every girl child: Banna Gupta

Jamshedpur, June 5: State Health Minister Banna Gupta Sunday appealed to all city residents to plant more and more trees to save the environment. He said the entire world was grappling with the problems created by global warming. Until and unless, the environment is conserved, people will keep suffering from extreme weather conditions, he said.

Gupta planted a sapling in the memory of his father late Ram Gopal Gupta at Smriti Udyan Park in Road No 14, Jawaharnagar, Mango, to mark the World Environment Day. Later, addressing a gathering during an Environment Day programme at Chetna Bhavan situated at Mango forest office, he said, “Our forefathers were closely associated and dependent on trees and other natural resources from birth till death. Even today the dependence continues. Hence it is the essential duty of all individuals to save the environment.”

Gupta further appealed to people to plant at least five fruit-bearing trees on the birth of every girl child in their households. He added that Swarnarekha river ghats could also be developed on the lines of Ganga ghats in Kashi and Ayodhya. He said Aaratis and other religious events could be arranged at the ghats of Swarnarekha in the coming days.

Divisional Forest Officer Mamata Priyadarshi was also present on the occasion. She said it was everyone’s duty to save the environment by planting more and more trees. She said trees should be planted in the memories of our near and dear ones.

Jamshedpur Forest Division and Marwari Yuva Manch jointly started an ‘Amrit Dhara’ drinking water outlets on the road near Mango forest guesthouse gate today. The outlet was inaugurated by the Health Minister.

Many senior district administration officials including SSP M Tamil Vanan, ADM Nand Kishore Lal and RCCF Ravi Ranjan were present during the programme.
