Jamshedpur, June 5: Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC) has issued notice to various shops and commercial establishments including tyre shops and godowns situated along the National Highway 33 to get fire no objection certificate (NOC) issued in their names within three days.
According to Deepak Sahay, Executive Officer, MMC, a two member team has been set up to conduct fire safety inspection in commercial and residential areas along the highway. The team comprises of City Managers Rahul Kumar and Nishant Kumar, he said.
Sahay said the commercial establishments should be run only after taking NOC from the fire department. He said a fire safety inspection drive was launched on Saturday. Shopkeepers were informed about fire safety norms.
The MMC’s move comes in the wake of a major fire mishap at a tyre godown in Anand Vihar Colony near NH33. The incident had led the district administration to initiate strict measures against shops and establishments running without fire safety arrangements in place.
